Job Summary:

The Architect is responsible for designing and planning structures. They create scale drawings, specify materials, and calculate costs and construction time. The Architect coordinates with the design firm and ensures that all construction follows approved plans and specifications

Duties & Job Functions:

• Develop project layouts and prepare detailed scale drawings.

• Plan and design structures, including residences and commercial buildings.

• Determine materials, colors, equipment, costs, and timelines for the project.

• Ensure designs comply with engineering principles and client requirements.

• Analyze site factors and provide reports with maps, diagrams, and graphs.

• Ensure the design complies with safety, engineering, and company standards.

• Conduct on-site inspections to ensure construction aligns with plans and safety standards.

• Direct and oversee the preparation of drawings and specifications.

• Investigate and resolve construction deviations.

• Monitor safety measures and housekeeping practices on-site.

• Work closely with foremen, sub-contractors, and suppliers to coordinate the project.

• Prepare or review progress reports and adjust work schedules as needed.

• Provide regular updates on work progress, costs, and materials.

• Interpret plans and explain terms to staff, workers, and subcontractors.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

• Understanding of design techniques, tools, and principles for creating functional and aesthetically pleasing structures.

• Knowledge of local, state, and national building codes, safety regulations, and zoning laws.

• Familiarity with various building materials, construction techniques, and sustainability practices.

• Understanding of structural, electrical, and mechanical engineering principles as they apply to architecture.

• Knowledge of managing construction projects, timelines, and budgets.

• Strong skills in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and other industry-specific programs.

• Ability to address complex design challenges and provide creative, practical solutions.

• Ability to create detailed architectural plans, layouts, and specifications, both manually and using digital tools.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with clients, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.

• Meticulous in reviewing plans, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance

• Ability to manage teams and oversee the work of designers, engineers, and construction staff.

• Ability to work closely with various teams, including design firms, sub-contractors, and suppliers to ensure project success.

• Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.

• Critical Thinking: Ability to analyze complex data and designs to identify problems and provide efficient, cost-effective solutions.

• Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing client needs, project requirements, and technological advancements in the industry.

Education and Expirience:

Minimum

• Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering or a closely related field is required and with at least two to five (2-5) years of experience in architectural engineering or related field.
