Job Summary:

The Electrical CAD Operator is responsible for preparing wiring diagrams, circuit board assembly diagrams, and layout drawings used for the manufacture, installation, or repair of electrical equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Drafts detail and assembly drawings of design components, circuitry, or printed circuit boards, using computer-assisted equipment or standard drafting techniques and devices

• Uses computer-aided drafting equipment or conventional drafting stations, technical handbooks, tables, calculators, or traditional drafting tools, such as boards, pencils, protractors, or T-squares

• Drafts working drawings, wiring diagrams, wiring connection specifications, or cross-sections of underground cables, as required for instructions to the installation crew

• Consults with engineers to discuss or interpret design concepts, or determine requirements of detailed working drawings

• Examine electrical schematics and supporting documents to develop, compute, and verify specifications for drafting data, such as configuration of parts, dimensions, or tolerances

• Performs other duties as assigned​

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD design software

• Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions, to read complex blueprints, piping sketches, schematics, and more

• Demonstrates excellent and proficient skills in both oral and written communication

• Possesses organizational skills and attention to detail

• Skilled in active listening, retaining information, and asking questions as appropriate

• Has effective teamwork and collaborative skills

• Has the ability to perform duties with uprightness, professionalism, and confidentiality

• Has the ability to perform in a fast-paced work environment

• Has the ability to demonstrate critical thinking, generate effective solutions and other approaches to problems

Education and Experience:

The Electrical CAD Operator position requires a minimum of an Associate’s degree in Computer-Aided Design, Engineering Technology, or a related field. The position also requires prior exposure to drafting electrical building systems in CAD.
