Job Summary:

The Web Developer position will be responsible for developing and implementing websites, web applications, application databases, and interactive web interfaces. The Web Developer will evaluate code to ensure that it is properly structured, meets industry standards, and is compatible with browsers and devices; will optimize website performance, scalability, and server-side code and processes; and will develop website infrastructure and integrate with other computer applications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

​​

• Designs, builds, or maintains Web sites, using authoring or scripting languages, content creation tools, management tools, and digital media

• Evaluates code to ensure that it is valid, is properly structured, meets industry standards, and is compatible with browsers, devices, or operating systems

• Backs up files from Websites to local directories for instant recovery in case of problems

• Performs Web site tests according to planned schedules, or after any Web site or product revision

• Performs or directs Web site updates

• Responds to email inquiries, or set up automated systems to send responses

• Confers with management or development teams to prioritize needs, resolve conflicts, develop content criteria, or choose solutions

• Develops or implements procedures for ongoing Web site revision

• Monitors security system performance logs to identify problems and notify security specialists when problems occur

• Designs and implements Web site security measures, such as firewalls and message encryption

• Writes supporting code for Web applications or Web sites

• Select programming languages, design tools, or applications

• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

​

• Knowledgeable in media production, communications, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media

• Knowledgeable in computer hardware and software, including applications and programming

• Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Powerpoint, MS Publisher)

• Knowledgeable in application server software such as WIX, WordPress, and similar servers

• Skilled in writing computer programs for various purposes

• Skilled in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions

• Ability to engage with customers and respond to inquiries or feedback in a timely and professional manner

• Ability to adapt to changing social media trends and platform updates, adjusting strategies as necessary

 

Education and Experience

The Web Developer position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or other related fields, and should have at least five (5) years of relevant experience.
